What’s Interesting: History Of Google & Its Scary Power.

Most of the time, we have been talking about Google in terms of SEO, page rank, adsense etc. But little do we know about the history of this Internet Search Engine Giant.
History Of Google (abstraction from WikiPedia here):
Google began in January 1996, as a research project by Larry Page, who was soon joined by Sergey Brin, two Ph.D. students at Stanford University, California. They hypothesized that a search engine that analyzed the relationships between websites would produce better ranking of results than existing techniques, which ranked results according to the number of times the search term appeared on a page. Their search engine was originally nicknamed “BackRub” because the system checked backlinks to estimate a site’s importance. A small search engine called Rankdex was already exploring a similar strategy. Read more…
Google still remains the most used search engine on the web. Below is a very short interesting YouTube video I found named “The Scary Power Of Google”. This video has been rated with 4 stars out of 5, 29,152 views, 41 comments & favourited 133 times.

This video could have gone a lot further with how powerful Google is. But nonetheless, it is a nice looking video.

Yes, Google is scary, and I think they are trying to take over the world.
I actually went to Google’s Irvine office because I was invited for my university’s alumni night (I studied CS). They have all sorts of fun stuff in their office, except it is very cramped. They put three people in an office intended for one person. Other than that, I’d say Google makes a good working environment with their gourmet food, all-you-can-eat snacks, drinks, etc.

I wish there was a better alternative to Google adsense. I hate them so much. Although I don’t rely on them too much these days, I’ve diversified a lot of my advertising into affiliates etc but google adsense unfortunately seems to be a necessary evil for most websites.

Yes I agree that Google is scary but in a positive sense. I found Google best of the best and I think I was pretty much right in my opinion because from the day of launch its progress went high and high and I wish Google found more and more heights in the future and will rule the world one day. Best wishes and best of luck for the future.
