Are You Working In IT Line? Are You Supporting Networking Products Like Cisco Routers? Well, I do. In fact I am also a Certified Network Associate for Cisco Routers and my company runs Cisco 1700 series Router too. But sad to say my experience in managing a router is very minimum as I seldom play around with one.

Yet, I am glad that I came across a blog that provides resources to help Cisco Certified Professional like me when we face problems. The white papers are written by their Cisco Instructors whom were Cisco working professionals too.

Today, I would like to discuss about Cisco IOS ACL. I think typical people defines ACL as a “packet filter”. In fact, according to what the blog says, ACL should be regarded as a “packet classifier”. In actual definition, ACL contains a list of entries containing matching criterias. One packet at a time, the characteristic of each packet is compared to the list of ACL entries in sequence. The first ACL entry that matches the packet characteristic will then determine the classification of the packet. That’s why they prefers to call it a “packet classifier”. More details can be found here.

Lastly, since you are working in IT line, I suppose you deal a lot with Microsoft products too. Consider upgrading yourself to a Microsoft Certified IT Professional with proper MCIPT training. Check out the link too!
