I have been blogging online for money for the past 1 year and I really regret that I never start off my blogging journey properly. I never optimize my blog for SEO since the beginning. Do you believe it? In fact, I do not even know what exactly is SEO during that time. That’s why I rarely receive any search engine traffic and made very little money from Adsense as a result since there is low traffic.

I believe to be successful in money making through blogging is to start it right. That’s why I wrote a series of articles on SEO and money making guide for new bloggers or website owners so that you can be guided correctly from the beginning. Below is the Part 2 of the guide. This WordPress plug-in will optimize your blog to take care of majority of your SEO tasks. Example, if you are worried that you might forget to include your keywords into your article title, this plug-in will automatically append your blog title to your post title. Hence if you include your keywords in your blog title (for the first time), each time when you post your article online, your post titles will automatically include your keywords too.

E) Add New, Unique And Relevant Contents Regularly

Search engines love websites that have newer and unique updates regularly. Hence if you have the time, make an effort to add in new and unique contents everyday. To be considered as unique content, your web page needs to be at least 30% different from any other web page on the web.

I would also recommend that you should write content relevant to your website niche. Otherwise, search engines would not entirely understand what your website is about.

F) Make Your Website Easy To Navigate For Your Visitors

Make your website easy to navigate by interlinking your internal pages. By doing this, it makes navigation a lot more easier for your visitors. Similarly, when search engines crawl your website, they would enjoy doing so and it would help your website in search engine ranking as well. However, do not anyhow inter-link your web pages without relevance and do not overdo it too.

G) Make Your Website Easy To Crawl For Search Engines

Generate a site-map for your website and submit to major search engines. This will help web crawlers or search bots to crawl or explore your website deeper and faster. Google XML Sitemaps is a WordPress plugin that allows you to generate a sitemaps.org compatible sitemap that is supported with Google, Yahoo, MSN Search and Ask.com.

I realize that many new blogger or website owners aim to blog for money but never use the proper way to achieve their objective. The building of a new blog or website presents an interesting analogy of nurturing a new born baby. You give birth to a new baby (create and host a new website), give it a name (create a domain name), educate it (customize it with themes and plug-ins) and feed it (add new contents) everyday.

Based on the analogy, there is no “quick-fast” way to make a new website becomes mature, popular, and ranked high by search engines overnight. If you are working on SEO (Search Engine Optimization), you must remember to do it slowly and gradually. You cannot rush, trust me! That’s why I hate black-hat SEO. The reason is because even if you succeed in making your website or web page ranks top in search engine results, it wouldn’t stay there for long. Search engines will discover your trick and ban you. Simple as that.

To understand what are the important factors of SEO, you may read the following guide I have written for you. This is only the first part of the guide. The rest will follow shortly.

A) Find The Right Niche

The right niche is always one that you are most comfortable with, well versed in and be able to think of new ideas and topics to write about every day. So far, the most popular niche would be webmaster and money-making related.

B) Think Of The Right Keyword(s)

Ok, now you found your niche, the next thing you should do, is to think of your keyword(s). Decide whether you wish to go for a single keyword or multiple keywords. Also decide on whether you wish to work on general term or keyword phrases. For a start, I would recommend you to go for “single keyword phrase”. A very good example would be ”How To Blog For More Money”.

C) Choose A Suitable And Unique Theme

Once you know what to blog about and identified your keyword, the next thing you should do is to find a right and unique theme that suits your niche. Example if your website is about blogging for money, you should go for a theme that has a professional look to convince your visitors that you are serious in this business.

If you are into blogging, I would recommend WordPress as the blogging software to use. If you have some cash to spare, I would recommend you to go for customized theme. Free themes are typically used widely hence may lost their uniqueness.

Squidoo is an interesting social networking site that allows users to build free, single-page marketing page (called a squidoo lens) to flip and market it. Due to its web influence and size, Squidoo lens can easily skyrocket to the top of Google Index in a short week or even a few days. Due to this loophole, there have been news that spammers and black-hat marketers are abusing this tool which force both Google and Squidoo to take action against them.

However, in my own opinion, Squidoo is still a very powerful tool yet more effort is required now to create a good quality lens to avoid being identified as spam. Once your article gets indexed by search engine and if you work on improving your ranking well, it is not surprising that your website will begin to gain tons of traffic when it ranks high. Other than just submitting your website, you are strongly encouraged to submit your sitemap (eg. sitemap.xml) to Yahoo as well. Similarly visit Yahoo Site Explorer and enter your site map URL (eg. http://bloggeroftheweb.com/sitemap.xml) and click “Submit Feed”. After which remember to verify your website ownership and wait for your submission approval.

3: Submit Your Website RSS to Yahoo

Every time after you update your website, you need to update Yahoo Site Explorer to crawl your website again and index your new web contents. To make this job easy, simply add your website RSS to Yahoo (eg. http://bloggeroftheweb.com/rss).

4: Optimize The Keyword Density Of Your Website

Yahoo consider keyword density a more important factor than Google. A higher keyword frequency is required. However, it will also consider synonyms, plural form, or other word variants of the same or related meaning to the given keyword to make up the keyword density calculation.

Mistake (1) – Submit Every Single Article Or Video In Your Website To Yahoo Buzz Without Knowing How They Would Benefit The Buzz Community

Just like any other news or article submission site, you should not submit every single article/video in your website to Yahoo Buzz easily, thinking that since it is a free service. You should ONLY submit quality articles or those which you think is unique and will benefit other Buzz users. It will also be a waste of time if you submit inappropriate contents like spam or porn as they will naturally be rejected or removed by the customer care team.

Mistake (2) – Using Too Common Headline Or Headline That Does Not Attract Readership

This is a common mistake made by most people when they create titles or headlines for their articles. Who would be interested to read your article when the headline itself does not even sound interesting to them? An interesting and catchy headline will certainly out-stand your article among all those within same category.

Mistake (3) – Submitting Your Article To The Wrong Category

This should not happen as far as I am concerned. However it does occur sometimes when people are careless, in a hurry, or only concern about gaining a back-link from Yahoo Buzz without putting it in the right category. Mistake (4) – Leaving “My Buzz Activity Is Public” Unchecked

So I would encourage you to check the “My Buzz Activity Is Public” option (by default it is unchecked) unless you think your online privacy is a concern. Otherwise you would probably miss out the best part of getting popular in the community as well as driving traffic to your submitted articles too (will be explained more later).

Mistake (5) – Misusing The Buzz Up or Buzz Down buttons

Be responsible when you use the Buzz Up or Buzz Down buttons to vote for the articles in Yahoo Buzz. Buzz up only you think it is worth giving it a buzz. Buzz down only if you truly think the article is worthless or inappropriate. Misusing these features will serve unfair to the author of the article or the community itself.

Mistake (6) – Asking Your Friends To Buzz Up For You Or Register Multiple Accounts To Do So

You should not beg or ask your friends, colleagues or family members to buzz your articles up for the sake of getting into Top Buzz in Yahoo Buzz. Similarly, you should also not register multiple free yahoo accounts to do so. This is against the guidelines and not a long term practice. Mistake (7) – Abusing The “Report A Story” Flag. Do Not Increase The Workload Of The Customer Care Team.

As much as Yahoo Buzz appreciates your help in helping them to fight spams and adult-related articles, you should not abuse the “Report A Story” flag by going around reporting articles for fun, or for the purpose of bringing down the reputation of your competitors. Finally, after working on it for some time, I have launched my own Do  Follow & Comment Luv Directory and Community. As I am starting to see more and more blogs embracing Do Follow & Comment Luv concept and displaying their logos, I thought of creating a community to gather all of them together for discussions, idea sharing & advertising etc.

My first step is to have a Directory Listing to allow our blogger to submit their Do Follow blogs into categories. This would allow visitors to my blog to search for their niche blogs in the Directory. As I am going to market the Directory tremendously, blogger would expect to see traffic coming from my site.

To make my Directory more successful, on a weekly basis, I would pick 2 bloggers with the most interesting or popular blog content, and allow them to place a 125 x 125 banner on main page for a week. Afterwhich, I would then pick another 2 bloggers to place their banners for the next week. So and so forth… Sounds interesting to you?

Many of us know if we comment in Do Follow blogs, especially those posts with high Page Rank, we will get enough link juices from them. However, I receive some queries from some of my readers on how do I actually discover such blogs, and how to check exactly which posts within have the highest Page Rank in the fastest possible time?

Take bloggeroftheweb.com as example. If you leave a comment below, Promo & Campaign: “Explore All The Best Do-Follow Posts” Campaign, you probably wouldn’t get much link juice because it only contains PageRank 0. However, if you do it with What’s Interesting: Gold Miner Game (Special Edition), you can be sure you benefit much more since it comes with PageRank 2.

Below is a step-by-step procedure I have worked out to help you.

(1) Find out the nature of your own blog to target those you would love to leave your comment. Let’s say your blog is about Money Making, try to leave as many comments in Money Making blogs as possible. Search engines give better ratings for quality and relevance of links.

(2) Google for “Do-Follow Directory” to dig out all the blog/site submission directories which contain Do-Follow sites sorted by categories. Look for blogs that share similar interests as yours.

(3) For every blog you wish to leave a comment, enter the URL into an Internal Page Rank Checker. It will display a list of all the posts and pages within the blog together with their Page Ranks. Tip – You may click on “Sort PR” so that the highest PR will display on top.

(4) Last, you may start leaving “meaningful and quality” comments starting with posts from highest to lowest PR. Please remember to do 2 things before you leave your comment.

A) Check against the Google toolbar for Page Rank accuracy of that post.

B) Check the page source for “rel=external” and NOT “rel=external nofollow” to confirm that the post support Do Follow.

Word Of Caution!

(1) Please DO NOT SPAM these posts with spam bots. Search Engines might be able to analyze the content around the spam links and may penalize those with same content everywhere. They are not stupid too. Whatever you can think of, they might have thought before.

(2) DO NOT overdo it. In order not to appear that you are abusing the blog by only commenting on his high PR posts, you would probably wanna leave comments on some of his newer posts as well which normally is low in PR.

Most people only work on the Page-Rank for their main domain. This is not enough in my humble opinion. My blog started off with building more back-links for its domain and managed to achieve a Page-Rank 3 within 9 months. 1. As blogger out there have many software and methods to search for blog posts with Page PR > 0, your page will stand out from the rest when they do a search thus increasing your post visibility. If your blog is dofollow, they would be more than happy to pay a visit and leave a comment too.

2. As you work along with getting more back-links for your blog posts, your blog posts will be exposed to the blogosphere more and if your blog content is unique and rich, it will get popular thus add credibility to your blog.
