5 Essential Golf Swing Tips For Beginners

Probably you are just starting to master a proper golf swing but couldn’t do it well as it is really a tough athletic movement. Many of us could easily do it the wrong way in hundreds or thousands times but only to do it correctly in a few moments. The only method to be able to get good shots every time is to master the fundamentals and keep the principles in mind.

Tip 1: Observe Your Grip & Your Stance

Keep in mind of your grip on the club and your stance since they will determine how well you can swing your club. Do not take them for granted because you wouldn’t want to end up with a poor shot just because you fail to observe these two points correctly. Arrange a single lesson with your trainer and practice on them well will lay a very good foundation for you.

Tip 2: Hit Your Club Down, Not Up

Do not try to hit the ball into the air by using the club to “lift” it up because in golf, the theory and practical do not work this way. This is usually the misconception some golfers have. The trick is, to get the ball “up”; you need to hit your club “down”. Another point to take note, the hit should be effortless on our part too. The design of the golf club and ball itself will easily make the ball fly high with a simple contact and little effort on your part.

Tip 3: Hit The Ball With Your Swing, Not Hands

We should be hitting the ball with our swing but not our hands. Our hands should focus on holding onto the club properly. Our muscles from our body i.e. those from the legs, hips and torso will give us the swing we need. A good swing will provide a better contact on the ball than trying to hit it with our hands.

Think about this way: If the golf ball and the club head are small, the club is three feet long and the ball is approximately five feet away, how can we hit the ball with delicate control i.e. with our hands?

Tip 4: Hit The Ball Right, Not Hard

Many golfers would think that to hit the ball far, it would mean to hit it hard. This is based on the theory that distance is achieved with the speed of the club head (the faster the swing is). In golf, the ball will not be sent far unless a hit that is centered and comes with good contact. The distance may not be generated without hitting the ball on the right spot of the club face.

Hence, unless you can control your swing well, otherwise, do not hit the ball so hard until you couldn’t control it. It can even be a light and relax swing if you hit the right spot to achieve the distance you desire.

Tip 5: Both Ends Of The Club Should Move At Same Direction

Always observe how a professional golfer swings his club to give a good shot with the right distance. See how they align their club when they swing it up during the back swing, all the way they swing down and through the ball to see it fly. The tips here is, both ends of the club should be moving the same direction, and not the club head moving towards the direction you want but not the handle.

The 5 essential tips are the fundamentals of golf swing for golfers of all levels. Understanding the fundamentals will lay a good foundation for you to achieve good performance consistently.
