SEO & Blogging: Does PageRank Really Matter To You?

800px-pagerank-hi-res.pngDoes Google Page-Rank really matter to you especially when it comes to you? Well, at least for me now “Yes it is!”  because majority of my internet income still depends on it.

I realize that there are still quite a number of advertisers relying on Google Page-Rank for qualifying blogs. With the recent numerous incidents of popular blogs got slapped with a lower PR, it is important that at this time we should work on maintaining our PR before we face the same ill fate like them. With higher PR, you will get more quality Search Engine traffic & better task opportunities.

I have compiled a list of points for us to work on. In summary,

1. Avoid pre-written copy and pasted disclosure policies provided/auto generated by other websites.

2. Avoid excessive ads & badges. Avoid any other tags like “hire me” or “review me”.

In my humble opinion, most internet users or advertisers would still trust Google PR in the long run as they have been in the field of website rankings for so many years. Do not let all your previous effort in building your PR goes to waste.

If you beg to differ or if you have any experience in keeping PR well, do place a comment here and share.

  1. It seems like Google wants all the advertising money on the web, and will penalize anyone that want a piece of the pie. Good article… I hope you don’t get penalized for all the references.

Hi Clement, thanks. This post is supposed to help everyone.

    Hi Dallas, haha… hopefully not.

  3. I got slapped to a zero on one of my blogs because I did paid posts. To be honest though I still get opportunities on that blog for PPP, Its just much harder and it won’t work for everyone’s blog.

As for traffic, my google traffic actually went up after it went to a PR0 as it did with a couple other site that went from PR4 to pr3.
